Pinoy Legacy was born out of a personal connection to the Philippines. Amor, Daniel Walker’s wife, grew up in Cebu, Philippines. When Daniel first traveled there to visit Amor and meet her family, he was struck by both the warmth of the people and the harsh realities many faced. Families struggled to afford basic necessities. Children often didn’t attend school because they needed to help their families. Orphans lived in heartbreaking conditions. Many hardworking adults wanted to change their lives—whether by finishing school, attending trade programs, starting small businesses, or even working as moped taxi drivers—but lacked the money, resources, or understanding of the legal and business requirements to make it possible.

As a follower of Jesus, Daniel felt a deep calling, inspired by Jeremiah 29:11, to respond. He started small—using his personal income to help however he could, whether feeding stray animals, providing basic supplies, or supporting families he met. But he also noticed that while short-term help was meaningful, there were very few resources for long-term assistance, such as education and career development, which could truly break the cycle of poverty.

This experience sparked the creation of Pinoy Legacy, a U.S.-based nonprofit dedicated to providing both immediate support through community events and long-term solutions through scholarships, trade education, and small business assistance. What began as simple acts of kindness has grown into a mission to bring hope, opportunity, and a brighter future to families and communities across the Philippines.
